A perfect day!
Wow, what a day was today! It was exciting from the very beginning and it’s actually quite hard to decide where to start. First of all – the weather was perfect again! It was sunny, calm and very warm. We just left the harbor when we spotted some harbor porpoises. But we didn’t stop for them, since they’re very shy and we already spotted something else in some distance: A big blow! Definetly a humpback whale! We approached it and got some very nice looks at it, when it suddenly started breaching! Right next to the boat! A few minutes later we saw some black dorsal fins surfacing a bit further west. We headed there and encountered a group of white beaked dolphins. we followed them for quite a while, when we just came across another humpback whale. And this one was very relaxed, it seemed to be sleeping! It wasn’t bothered by us at all and just floating at the surface. And further south we encountered a second group of dolphins – this time a very large pod! They surfaced all around us and some of them breached, which was a wonderful sight!
But also the afternoon was incredible. We spotted three humpback whales, two of them socializing and surfacing right next to each other. And last but nor least we encountered a minke whale very close to the Viknafjöll mountains in the west. It was simply a perfect day!!!
