Something new and…relaxing
Yoga instructors Huld Hafliðadóttir and Arnbjörg Kristín Konráðsdóttir arranged a tour which they called “Deep Relaxation, Meditation, and Whale Watching.” On Monday evening, July 14th, a group of 26 people of all ages set off on Schooner Opal for this new experience.
Huld has previously been a guide for North Sailing and now works for the Húsavík Whale Museum and the Húsavík Research Center as well as teaching Kundalini Yoga, so she was able to tell about the scenery and wildlife of Skjalfandi bay—including the humpback whale they spotted.
Arnbjörg is a yoga instructor and gong player and she led the meditation out on the deck of Opal. The sound of the gong is said to aid in relaxation as it resonates well with the human body and nature.
The evening air was a bit chilly, and a few raindrops fell, but participants bundled up in the warm overalls and blankets and enjoyed the trip. After the meditation and the gong-relaxation, everyone enjoyed healthy home-made desserts and Yogi tea.
