Sleepy humpbacks and playful dolphins
On our tour on Garðar at 10.00 we were greeted with sunshine and calm conditions. We sailed north west and came across a small pod of White-beaked dolphins, before reaching an area with three sleeping humpback whales who were logging at the surface (resting). This was exciting to see as it is a behavior we rarely experience.
The day continued to be full of great surprises. Firstly, a Minke whale popped up in front of the boat ten minutes after leaving the harbour, followed later by a very curious and hungry Humpback whale. He/she circled us bubble net feeding. To end the afternoon trip a large pod of white-beaked dolphins came to say hello to the delight of our passengers, jumping along with two juveniles. Successful day that put a smile on our faces.
Below are some photos taken today.
