Plenty of whales in the bay
As we headed to the bay to day for the 13:30 trip we set the course towards the western part of the bay. Earlier we had seen Minke whales, Humpback whales and White beaked dolphins there. We had not been sailing for long as our captain Hrólfur told me that he had spotted a minke whale. We decided to stop and try to follow this whale. This Minke whale was not surfacing often so we decided to continue our journey through Skjálfandibay. Again we did not have to sail for to long until an other Minke whale showed up. But it was the same like the minke before. It was not coming often up to the surface. Once again we left a Minke whale and headed towards the west. As we got closer to the mountains we noticed once again many whales around us. Now we had at least three minke whales around us. We got a grate view at them as they were feeding in the surface. As we had gotten a grate show from these Minke whales we noticed a Humpback whale there between them and tried to follow him, but he was rarely coming up. Ether way we got a look at him before we had to start the journey back to Húsavík. On the way we enjoyed hot chocolate and cinnamon rolls.
