A feeding party in the bay!
Today we headed out in beautiful weather conditions. The sun has been shining all day and it’s been real nice and warm.
We sailed straight west, towards the Creek Mountains and over there we were in for a treat. There were countless Minkey Whales feeding and all around us were groups of Arctic turns and Fulmars. We also spotted two Humpback Whales. One of them came up right next to the boat and lifted its fluke a few times for us really close to the boat. The afternoon tour was just as good– Minkey Whales feeding all around us and even a breaching Humpback Whale! That same Humpback Whale then circled around the boat for a little while, really calm while feeding, coming up with its mouth first full of water and food.
A wonderful day out on Skjálfandi Bay, which is obviously full of food these days. Lets hope it stays that way!
