A perfect day for whale watching
We have had wonderful conditions for whale watching on all our trips today:
The sea was as flat as a mirror, the sun was shining for most of the day and the bay was just full of life.
Very similar to the last days, there was a big feeding frenzy going on in the western part of the bay, close to the mountains, where we saw several humpback whales and minke whales feeding among thousands of seabirds (mainly arctic terns, kittiwakes and fulmars) – a really spectacular sight!
In total there must have been at least five minke whales and five humpback whales in the area and especially the humpbacks were really nice to watch as they were feeding right under the surface, taking only very short and shallow dives.
Hopefully this big feeding party will continue for a little while! 🙂
