Bay full of whales and birds
This morning as we headed out to Skjálfandaflói the sea was calm and the sun was shining. We set course towards the mountains at the western part of the bay. As we arrived there and started looking for the whales we just had to look for the birds because there were hundreds of arctic turns and fulmars there. When there are many birds at one spot then there are often also whales around. And today it was ones again true. Soon we had spotted Minke whales and Humpback whales. They were feeding in the surface and often they surfaced close to our boat Bjössi Sör. Often as we were waiting for the whales to surface again captain Hrólfur turned off the engine so we could here the pure nature. At these moments we could also here the powerful blowing from the whales and the screeching Arctic turns.
