Minke day with hunting Gannets
It has been a busy day for us today, but we did not only sail out with many passengers today, we have also been successful with showing them whales on all our tours today.
The main species today was the minke whale: We found at least three minke whales on our morning tour at 10:00, two of them very close to the mountains in the western part of the bay.
One minke whale was surfacing extremely close to the coast a few times, and while we were waiting for the minke whale to surface again we could watch several Northern Gannets (the largest seabirds in the North Atlantic) diving like rockets into the sea, hunting for fish – a really spectacular sight!
Also on the other tours we spotted the minke whales, let’s hope they will stay for a little longer :-).
