The first minke whale!!!
We were pretty excited to sail out and find the humpback whale again, which we had seen on both tours yesterday.
When leaving the harbour at 10:00 this morning, we started with setting the course towards the area where we had been successful yesterday and it did not take long until we spotted a powerful spout: The Humpback Whale was still there!
We got some nice looks at the humpback whale and while we were waiting for the humpback to come up again, all of a sudden a minke whale showed up, quite close to the boat!
It was a very nice surprise to see a minke whale in the same area and this was actually the first minke whale of the 2014 season!
It was a fantastic morning in Skjálfandi Bay with two species of baleen whales (Humpback and Minke Whale) and hundreds of seabirds flying around us!
The weather forecast looks also pretty nice for the next days so fingers crossed it will continue like that.
