A breaching Humpback in the rain

It was quite wet when we left the harbour this morning onboard “Náttfari” and the rain continued for most of the tour. But it was totally worth to go out even in these rainy conditions:

We spend a long time with a very nice humpback whale that surfaced right next to our boat a few times and then all of a sudden it even breached completely out of the water – what an amazing sight!!! On the way back to Húsavík we also found a second humpback whale and in the afternoon we encountered several more humpbacks, in total we have seen at least five different humpback whales and even the weather was much better: There was not a single raindrop and the mountains on the western side of the bay looked really beautiful in the afternoon sun.

Fingers crossed that the whales are still in a good mood tomorrow and the weather gods will be on our side! 🙂
