The bay is still full of life!
During the previous days we usually observed one or two different species during our whale watching tours. That changed today!
The sea was calm and although the weather was changeable wind from south brought us warm temperatures. Great conditions to search for the whales! Close to the harbor we encountered some harbor porpoises, the smallest cetacean species occurring in our bay. Further west we spotted a minke whale and while we were waiting for this whale to surface again, we were suddenly surrounded by a group of white beaked dolphins. They were very playful, leaping out of the water and slapping with their tails.
And last but not least we observed a humpback whale very close to the mountains. It surfaced unusual close to the mountains and we were very lucky: Suddenly the humpback whale breached very close to our boat!
What a wonderful start into the weekend!!!
