Whales and waves
Today started out very good. It was dry in the morning, the sea was quite calm and we were in a good mood. So were the whales. We spotted a minke whale on our way out, but it didn’t stop with us for a very long time, but then we came across two humpback whales swimmig together! They were always close together, and one of them lifted its fluke when going for deep-dives. It was great. But the sea was always getting a little bit rougher, and the boat was moving quite a lot. On the way back we spotted another minke whale, but didn’t have time to stop.
On our second tour on Garðar, the sea was actually getting very rough, and it sprayed on the front of the boat when we sailed against the wind. But it is a big and sturdy boat and we managed to find a humpback whale that was very nice to us, lifting its fluke very high and gracefully into the air before deep-diving. After a good show from this humpback, we hurried home. Then we had to cancel the tours the rest of the day because it was too rough!
Tomorrow is supposed to be very windy as well, but I hope not that bad that we can’t go out.
