Relaxed humpback whales!
Today we sailed out on our boat Náttfari at 8:50. It was raining a bit, but it was really warm and the conditions were good. This tour turned out really good, we spotted 6 humpback whales and all of them came up really close to the boat and gave us a great show. At one point we had a few of them coming up all around us, so people could pretty much look in all directions, and they would spot a whale. On our second tour it had stopped raining and the sun was shining. It didn’t take us long to spot the first whale. That one turned out to be a minke whale. We got a few good looks at it before we spotted a spout of a humpback whale that we decided to take a closer look at. There turned out to be two humpback whales and a little later a third one joined in! So we had three humpbacks in a line right infront of us. Absolutly beautiful! They were all really relaxed, surfacing a lot so we decided to turn off the engine and enjoy the peace and quiet. The humpbacks seemed to like that, they kept coming towards us and we had all three of them just right next to us for a really long time. With the engine off, the sun shining and these three relaxed humpback whales the passangers got really relaxed and enjoyed this quiet time. All we could here was the sound of the ocean and the blow of the whales. It was really just amazing.
The sun is supposed to shine on us for the next few days and the whales are in a great mood, so this is definitely the time to go whale watching!
