There's NO bad weather!!!! ;-)
We are often asked whether the whales are seen even in bad weather – so today. But first note, that there is no ‘bad’ weather! 😉 We are well prepared, of course, and since everybody was protected from the rain with our overalls and the raincoats, we sailed out in a good mood this morning!
Although it was quite foggy, we had no problems in finding the animals. Close to the harbor we encountered a group of white beaked dolphins. The suddenly appeared all around the boat and started jumping and bow riding! After this great start we headed further north east. Close to Lundey we spotted a humpback whale had the opportunity to observe it for quite some time. When we decided to sail further north, we took a small detour to the Puffin Island and saw hundreds of Puffins flying around the island and sitting on the sea surface. But suddenly we sighted a very big blow – and finally we had the great chance to observe a blue whale!!!
This blue whale was also the highlight in the afternoon. This time it lifted the mighty fluke several times before deep diving and suddenly it surfaced very close to our boat!!! That was a great surprise! It was so close that we even could have touched it! Wonderful! At the same time, three humpback whales occurred in the same area and it was hard to decide, where to look first! We were lucky to see one of them slapping with the tail many times!
Bad weather? There’s no bad weather! But there’re unbelievable encounters with the animals!!!!!
