Your lucky day?
If you wanted to see Humpback whales, Harbour porpoises and Minke whales, then this was your lucky day! We were fortunate to encounter all 3 species in our morning tour today.
The wind was up and the boat was rocking a little on the waves while we crossed to the West. As the wind was coming from the North-West the sea got calmer as we approached the mountains. There we were surprised by a jumping Humpback whale, showing his or her full body twice, how fortunate we were to witness such an event!
They say “if you do not like the weather in Iceland, wait 10 minutes”, well, that we did and we were rewarded with sunshine on the way back. Some people took advantage if the 20% discount on the ticket for the whale museum that North Sailing offers, and went straight to the Whale museum to learn more about whales, dolphins and porpoises, the whaling history and to see some life-size skeletons and baleens. If you have not been on a tour with us yet, we highly recommend visiting the museum before or after the whale watching trip!
