Still lots of humpbacks and minkes
Today I had my first tours on our biggest boat “Garðar” this year and when we left the harbour at 10:00 this morning, there was quite a cold and fresh wind coming from the north…..we gave all our passengers some warm overalls and headed out into the bay, setting the course towards the mountains into the area where most of the whale activity had been the last couple of days – and that paid off!
After about 45 minutes of sailing we spotted the blow from a humpback whale and as we came closer, we realized that there were actually two more humpback whales in the same area. A bit later we also spotted a minke whale feeding among lots of seabirds.
Also in the afternoon we spotted both species, the humpbacks and the minke whales again.
So despite the cold northerly wind, it was a successful whale watching day. And with a warm overall and a nice cup of hot chocolate, even the cold wind was no problem……;-).
