Whale, dolphin & porpoise delight
Countless humpback and minke whales surfaced under the morning light and the ocean breeze. Some of them came close to the boat. We briefly met a couple of harbour porpoises who were swimming so fast that we could think they were properly bouncing on the waves. A little further out, a huge humpback whale jumped out of the water. While we were returning to the harbour, a pod of white-beaked dolphins escorted the boat. A great show for our guests who were enjoying hot chocolate with cinnamon pastries .
On the second trip, we first met two inquisitive humpback whales swimming toward us, diving near the boat to the delight of all. A great skua showed its large silhouette, and shy puffins were clumsily trying to fly over the sea surface.
On the western side of the bay, where the fresh water flowing from the rivers converge with the sea, several minke whales and harbour porpoises were chasing schoals of fish. Some of them approached the boat, swimming around for a long time. Although the wind was cold, everyone was cheerful and enjoyed the day.
