Whale watching non-stop!!!
The summer weather in Northern Iceland goes on and so does the feeding party in Skjálfandi Bay! Also today the sun was shining and the south wind caused high temperatures.
When we left the harbor, we already spotted several blows in front of us. And that’s how it went on! The humpback whales occurred in every part of the bay! So we just sailed from one whale to the next. On the way further west we also encountered a small group of harbor porpoises.
But suddenly we sighted a big blow close to the boat and only a few seconds later a second one and – unbelievable – even a third one immediately! Three humpback whales surfaced in front of us, swimming next to each other, lifting almost synchronously their tail flukes. What an amazing sight! The humpback whales usually travel alone and it’s quite rare to see three of them so close together!
The afternoon was as successful as the morning – again we met humpback whales, harbor porpoises and also several minke whales. Boredom? Not on our tours!!!
