Náttfaris successful start into the season
Again we had a very successful whale watching day! Obviously there is still a lot of food in the bay. On our 10 o’ clock tour, when we went out with our boat Náttfari for the first time this season, we saw not only several minke whales busy feeding, but also some harbor porpoises and at least three humpback whales in the western part of Skjálfandi Bay. We got really nice looks on them, before we had to sail back to Húsavík harbor. But whale watching was not over yet: Surprisingly we encountered another humpack very close to the harbor, which was a wonderful way to end the tour.
The highlight of the 13:30 tour were two humpback whales, that surfaced close to our boat. We observed them travelling together and suddenly they started breaching and tail slapping in front of us!!! We were completely surprised, what an amazing sight!!!
And finally on the last tour we found ourselves in the middle of a dinner party of minke and humpback whales. Absolutely wonderful!!!
