Minkes close to Húsavík

Despite the bad weather conditions we decided to give it a try and sail out at 10:00, as there have been whales very close to Húsavík the last couple of days.

Our plan worked out and we found a minke whale just a few minutes after we had left the harbour. This minke whale unfortunately didn’t show to much of itself, so we sailed a bit further west and after a short while we spotted another minke whale. We had much more luck with this individual and we got some nice close-up looks at the minke whale.

We then sailed further west towards the mountains, but even though there was a lot of birdlife, we didn’t find any whales close to the mountains.
