Three species per trip
Today has been just another very nice whale watching day here in Skjálfandi Bay and we enjoyed two trips in very calm sea conditions with plenty of wildlife.
The morning tour started with two humpback whales that were swimming side by side just a few hundred metres from the Húsavík lighthouse. After some nice looks at these two humpbacks we sailed west towards the mountains and in the area around the Fish Rock we came across another humpback whale as well as (at least) three minke whales and a very nice group of harbour porpoises.
In the afternoon we found the same humpback whale again, still close to the Fish Rock (close to the mountains), but this time there was also a group of white-beaked dolphins swimming around him.
In the same area were also several minke whales (we counted at least four) feeding among big groups of seabirds.
