Five Humpbacks and a Big Blue
We had two very nice whale watching tours today with fantastic whale encounters:
On the morning tour we found the two humpback whales again that have been around the last couple of days (usually quite close to the mountains in the western part of the bay).
In the afternoon we found three different humpback whales. One of them was a very small individual and it always surfaced next to a very big humpback whale, so it was probably a mother and her calf – something we don’t see every day on our tours!
But to top this encounter we also spotted a blue whale not far away from the humpback whales and we also managed to get a few close-up looks at the biggest animal on the planet.
So all in all, a very successful whale watching day here in Skjálfandi Bay :-).
