North Sailing – Season 18
The first tour of the season from Húsavík was today and it was no dull season start! Quite the opposite! 🙂
There´s always much excitment within the North Sailing team when embarking on the first tour of the season since we never know if the whales know the season really has started! 🙂
Our most experienced captain, Hrólfur and one of our most experienced guide, Nils went out with 34 excited passengers. The weather was absolutely beautiful, sunshine but still quite cold.
After sailing for about 40 min. captain Hrólfur spotted a blow in the distance and changed the course towards that area. It didn´t take him a long time to confirm what he suspected: A Blue whale emerged with a huge spout and it´s big blue back. To top it all, it turned out that there were 2 Blue whales in the area which they managed to observe quite close for quite a while.
There were happy passengers (and crew) that returned to the harbour after a successful start to the season and one passenger claimed he was actully 200% satisfied with the tour since he not only spotted one Blue whale, but Two!
We´re truly looking forward to yet another exciting season ahead!
