Lots of Humpback Whales, joined by Minke Whales and Northern Bottlenose Whales
Today was pretty similar then yesterday: Still amazing whale watching!
Beautiful weather (the sun was shining the whole time on both trips), calm sea, wonderful landscape and also wonderful whales.
There are still a lot of humpback whales in the bay and what made it so special today was the fact that they were obviously feeding together in small groups. On the morning tour we saw four humpback whales surfacing together, side-by-side, right next to the boat a few times.
In total there must have been at least seven or eight humpback whales in the area, and we also spotted a few minke whales as well.
In the afternoon we found a lot of humpback whales again as well as two minke whales and on the way back to Húsavík we also got a very nice surprise: Northern Bottlenose Whales! It was a group of four animals (most likely the same group that has also been around here in August and September) and they were surfacing not far away from the boat all of a sudden in the middle of the bay, but everybody got a nice look at them.
Just another very successful whale watching day in beautiful autumn weather.
