A perfect day for whale watching
Today we could not have asked for better conditions for whale watching, it was absolutely fantastic! Me and captain Hrólfur went out on Náttfari with 30 passengers and as we left the harbour the sun was shining and the Creek Mountains were just stunningly beautiful.
After only about 20 minutes we saw the first spouts in a distance and only a short while later we ran into our first Minke Whale. It was a calm Minke, probable feeding, but he aproached us in a very slow way and to us it looked as if he just came to say hello.
As we went further west, towards the Creek Mountains, we saw more and more blows and then came across three Humpback Whales feeding in the same area. They were very busy feeding, did not stay above surface for long, but did not dive very long either. One of them was lunge feeding and it was just amazing seeing the throat expanded with sea water!
We saw at least 3 more humpbacks feeding all around us and as said, we could not have asked for better or more beautiful conditions.
