The return of the dolphins
The humpback whales were still in the same area like the last couple of days, in the northwestern part of the bay, close to the mountains.
We took a good look at two humpbacks on the morning tour, but there were at least two more individuals a bit further out.
In the afternoon we set the course towards that area again, but after about 30 minutes of sailing, we all of a sudden saw a humpback whale breaching completely out of the water! But after breaching, this humpback whale was behaving a bit strange, coming up only once and then diving again.
After a little while we decided to leave this whale and keep on sailing towards the mountains, where we first encountered a small group of white-beaked dolphins! Actually a very special encounter, as we had not seen the dolphins for quite a long time now.
A bit later we had some nice encounters with two humpback whales, surfacing side by side and as we left them, we even spotted a third humpback whale in the same area. We also took a short look at that one before setting the course back towards Húsavík.
