Humpbacks, dolphins and the Puffin Island
When I woke up this morning it was windy and my first thought was that out on sea it wouldn‘t be good. But the weather is always playing tricks on me (it has happened before) because out there it was less windy and really calm. The humpbacks weren’t far away! On the 10 o’clock trip we found three humpbacks that all were in the mood for showing themselves, all lifted the fluck and were calm and easy. We had some news of dolphins close to the island of Lundey (Puffin island) so we set our course there and found a group of with-beaked dolphins. There was a lot of birdlife around the Puffin island so we decided to sail close up to it and stop there for couple of minutes. It was really beautiful to see all the puffins and other seabirds fly in and out of the island and of course it’s always funny to see the puffin trying to take off from the sea.
On the13:30 trip we came close to nothing less than eight humpbacks. I gave up trying to count all the different spouts we saw around us but we saw at least fifteen different humpbacks in the bay. We found three pairs of them how were practicing some synchronized swimming. After a highly effective day of whale watching I was really happy and I think (and hope) the passengers were to.
