Logging humpbacks
This morning it was a bit windy in Húsavík but out on sea it was actually calmer (usually it is the other way around). With a full boat we headed out and it wasn’t long until we found us the first set of humpback whales. They were logging (that means they were drifting like logs propably sleeping) so we were able to come really close to them. After a while we found another set of humpbacks and they were also logging, apparently they were in the mood for resting this morning. All the humpbacks that we so were in similar area, we were not able to come close to all of them otherwise we would have been out there away longer than three hours.
We were a bit attempted to head into another area not so far away because we knew that one of Northsailings boats had seen dolphins there. It didn’t take us long to find the white-beaked dolphins and there were some humpbacks there also. After a good whale watching trip we set our course back to Húsavík but as I tell passengers the trip is not over until you are in the harbour because we also saw couple of humpbacks on the way home.
