Over and over again
One of the things I love about being a whale watching guide, is the excitement and joy I still feel – in every single tour! If anything, it only gets better. I started working as a guide in 2001 and of course I am loaded with great memories of both great whale watching tours and friendly passengers.
It is a privileged job, working as a guide on whale watching boat in Skjálfandi Bay, Húsavík, Iceland. Some visitors come over and over again, and last week I meet someone that was here in the summer of 2001, my first summer.
The fresh sea breeze, the unusual movement of the boat when riding the waves, the breathtaking beauty of the Creek Mountains, the whales and the people, all of which being a crucial part of each tour.
Today I went out with over 180 people on two trips – we saw humpbacks, minke whales and a school of white beaked dolphins (more specific: mothers and calfs, born this summer!).
Did I mention it was a privilege?
