Skjálfandi Bay at its best!
At 10´clock we left Husavik harbour and headed west, direction of the beautiful mountains across the bay. Unfortunately they were shrouded in white fluffy clouds. After a short while we sighted a big blow ahead and when approaching we saw a big splash after which the front flipper became visible and the Humpback whale started slapping it on the surface of the water. After several more breath he, or she, went down and the sea became calm again. After some minutes a back surfaced and suddenly two Humpback whales were visible. They engaged in synchronized breathing, surfacing and lifting the tail when diving. While being in awe a Minke whale showed up behind our boat and we had a nice sighting of this beautiful and fast little whale. On the way home we were surprised by another Humpback whale which was resting and swimming slowly near the surface. Hot chocolate to top the tour of, excellent!
