Lob tailing and breaching Humpback whale
Conditions for whale watching were good this morning though the sun was not shining. After about half an hour we found a humpback whale that was really calm and lifted the fluke every time it went down for a deep-dive. Next we spotted another humpback this one did not lift the fluke for us until we were leaving and that was a lift to remember, it was really high.
We found a minke whale in the west part of the bay by a rock in the sea that we call Fiskisker (e. Fish rock). The minke was very close to land and was definitely feeding when we found it but in a while it started to swim quite fast. After a while with the minke whale we set our course to Húsavík but you never know what the nature is going to bring you! We found a breaching humpback whale and it seemed as it was never goning stop breaching. When we first spotted the breaching humpback it was far away but when we reached it it was still breaching and came up just by the boat again and again. When we were leaving it started fluke slapping or lob tailing, it was my first time seeing that:) Everbody were really happy after this fantastic whale watching!
