Whales in the evening sun
Tonight I had the pleasure to sail the evening tour together with captain Már onboard “Bjössi Sör”. It didn’t take us long until we found a nice group of white-beaked dolphins, just 15 minutes after we had left the harbor. We stayed with the dolphins for a while until we decided to sail further west, looking for more whales. In the south-western part of the bay we encountered two very nice humpback whales, swimming side by side.
We stayed about half an hour with these two beautiful humpbacks and got some really close-up encounters. After that, we sailed further and close to Fiskisker (the “Fish Rock”) we spotted another humpback whale and as we got closer, we soon realized that there was also a number of minke whales around.
A few minutes later, we found ourselves in the middle of a big feeding frenzy! Several minke whales and the humpback whale were surfacing again and again in between lots of seabirds. Quite a spectacular sight to see all these whales feeding in the evening sun!
On the way back, we enjoyed the beautiful evening sun and I am looking forward to go on many more evening tours, hopefully as successful as this one.
