A curious minke and a tail-slapping humpback!
We left the harbour at 10:00 onboard “Bjössi Sör” and it took us only a few minutes to find a nice minke whale, not far from the harbour. We were waiting for the minke whale to surface again, when it suddenly surfaced just next to the boat and started to roll over on its back, checking out the boat and showing us its white belly. Just a few moments later the minke whale disappeared and after this amazing and very rare encounter, we continued our search for the humpback whales.
Later on, we were rewarded with some really nice and close-up humpback whale encounters…….very nice to see that the humpbacks still haven’t left and that there are still the same six humpback whales in the bay that have been around the last couple of days.
On our afternoon tour we also found several humpback whales, one of them was even tail-slapping for a while – a very spectacular sight!
