Lots of humpbacks and minkes in the bay

The last couple of days have been really successful regarding the whales: On all our tours during the last three days we saw the humpback whale, and on most of the tours also the minke whale. Today was no exception: On the morning tour we saw two different humpback whales and also two different minke whales. And on the afternoon tour we were even able to top that: We saw four different humpbacks and two minke whales! On one occasion we even had both species together (one humpback and one minke whale) feeding at the same spot, just a few minutes from Húsavík harbour.

Of course we are very happy to see these large whales back here in Skjálfandi Bay and among the humpbacks that we have seen today are also two whales that have already been sighted here last year (2011)……very nice to see some old friends back here in their feeding grounds :-).

Fingers crossed that it will stay like this for the next days and weeks!
