Special guests
In passing weeks we had two special guests going out whale watching on our boats.
Anna Floistrup (Denmark) was a really enthusiastic whale watcher and wanted to try all of our different boats so she went for SEVEN trips in just a few days! Here is Anna happy onboard Schooner Haukur:
A “new” family, Julia Illing (Germany) and Fernando Moran (Spain), brought their new born Sofia out for two trips of the Whales, puffins and sails tour:
-The family had been driving around Iceland for about 10 days and stopped in Húsavík for a whale watching tour. They had read in Lonley Planet that Húsavík is one of the best places for watching whales so for them Húsavík was a must do in Iceland!
-Julia and Fernando like North Sailings schooners because they are nice and original old wooden boats. So they went on a tour with our Schooner Haukur, and enjoyed it a lot even though the weather could have been better. Two months old Sofia was not bothered by the relatively bumpy sea, in fact she slept in a “belly bag” almost the whole time. Her parents said smiling that she must have liked the boats rolling.
-The day after the family went for a second tour, now on Schooner Hildur. This time the weather was fine and they enjoyed it very much and Sofia was pleased and comfortable. They found the crew nice, professional and hard working.
-Julia and Fernando like to do adventurous things when they are traveling, and for them it’s natural that Sofia will be a part of their adventures from now on. An interesting note the parents made was that Iceland is a child friendly travel destination because the temperature is not too warm and it’s easier to protect the child from coldness with more clothes than from hot weather. And the swimming pools really welcome children in their facilities!
