Ice Climate Education Camp in Húsavík
The international youth camp “Ice Climate Education” is taking place for the fourth time here in Húsavík during these days with participants from eight different countries (Germany, South Africa, Turkey, Denmark, Estonia, Uganda, England, France). Various lectures are held, for example on climate change, global warming, preservation and photovoltaic, whaling and whale watching. During the weekend, the students also went onboard “Dagmar Aaen” with captain Arved Fuchs and sailed to Dalvík, where they went hiking, and this trip also included a short walk around the island of Flatey. Here in Húsavík, the folk museum and the whale museum were visited and yesterday afternoon, the group went whale watching with us, getting some incredible views on a very curious minke whale (see our blog).
