Another breaching humpback!
This morning we saw another humpback whale breach close to the boat, the second day in a row!
Even though the sea was rough and not quite the best whale watching conditions we were lucky enough to see two different humpback whales. The first one was in the middle of the bay and we followed it while it continued to travel further east, but then, a passenger spotted a huge splash south of us so we rushed over there and it breached about 5-10 times before it calmed down again 🙂
Amazing!
The humpback whale breaching show continued in the afternoon: We went out again at 13:30 in rough conditions, we had the wind blowing from the north and from time to time it was even snowing. After around 20 minutes of searching we spotted the blow from a humpback whale and as we got closer, we realized that it was the same whale that had been jumping in the morning. He had been surfacing several times quite close to the boat and then, all of a sudden, he jumped out of the water, just a few metres in front of the boat!
So even if the weather conditions were not really good today, we have now had three tours in a row with breaching humpback whales! Incredible!
