Close encounters on rough seas
Today the weather was pretty bad and the sea was really rough so going out I wasn‘t very optimistic. My pessimism was however unfounded as on both tours I went out on today we got a very good look at a minke whale. We kept to the east side of the bay where the sea was a little better and whales had already been spotted. On the first trip we were just sailing towards Lundey to take a look at the few puffins left and the minke whale just suddenly appeared close to the boat. We got a very good look at it and then got a look at another minke whale when heading back to harbour. On my second tour we spotted a minke whale from some distance. When we had sailed over to where it had been and were waiting for it; it suddenly appeared right next to the boat and we could see it incredibly well. So even though some of the passengers were seasick or cold most of them were very happy after a close encounter with a whale.
