A fin whale or not?
This morning it was a really nice, calm weather and we didn’t travel for long when the crew on Bjössi Sör called us to say they saw a minke whale. We were on Haukur not far from them and headed directly towards them. When I had seen it a couple of times I started having doubts about this minke whale because it was really big and and once I saw the snout which made me even more positve that it wasn’t a minke. After debates with the captain and other crews we agreed that this could be a young fin whale. A rare sight, but we had a really nice time with it. It headed though slowly out of the bay and was unfortunately not seen the rest of the day. But the minke whales and white beaked dolphins are still here for sure and all the boats had success with them today.
