Minke whales and…. A humpback whale!!
Today was absolutely a lot better than yesterday. The wind was calm and the suface completely smooth so the searching conditions were excellent. And we didn't have to go far befor we had luck. Náttfari was already out when me and captain Heimir went out on Knörrinn. And they had spotted a large group of dolphins. We joined Náttfari watching the dolphins and they were really nice. Playing around both the boats for a while.
Not far from the dolphins was one minke whale also which we had great success with.
The white-beaked dolphins.
On the second tour the dolphins were already out of the bay again so we didn't see them but we found the minke whale again and it was really calm and nice.
But on my third trip we heard exciting news when we came out, a humpback whale had been seen just a few miles out of the harbour. So we headed straight towards that spot an wow how nice it was to see a humpback whale again. But we realized soon that this one was not planning on staying in the bay. We followed it quite far north but managed to keep up with it the whole time so most of the time it was coming up right next to us. At the same time the crew on Bjössi Sör found another humpback whale in the northwestern part of the bay but it was the same with that one, it was heading straight out of the bay. So I'm not that hopeful we'll see a humpback whale again tomorrow, but who knows?
