Ups and downs
I went out on the two last trips today. And these two trips showed extremely well how different each tour can be. The earlier, at 17:00, was a really good trip. Me and captain Bjarki went out on Knörrinn with a group of cheerful Spanish people. It was getting a bit foggy by then but we saw one minke whale at first quite good. Then we went further and drove into black fog. But just a few minutes later we came out of the fog and into the sun and all of a sudden there was a humpback whale diving in front of the boat. We saw it a few times close up and it said goodbye to us by waving the tail right next to the boat.
On the evening trip we however had hardly any chance on spotting a whale because the fog was by then completely blocking the view all around the bay. We saw a black back pop up three times on the tour but never managed to follow it because of the thick fog. It was really frustrating knowing that the whales were around but not being able to see them. But that's what we can expect of the wild nature I suppose. I hope it clears up before tomorrow.
