A foggy minke whale day
When I went out this morning at 9:00 it was so foggy I was pretty sure we wouldn't find anything. But we took our chances, went out in the hope of running into something. And we literally had to run into something because it was no chance of seeing anything from a distance. And that is exactly what happened, suddenly there were white-beaked dolphins right in front of us and for a whil we had a relly nice show. They were just playing around the boat, swimming under us and alongside us. But then we lost them into the dark fog. So we just started heading to the harbour. When we were just 20 minutes from Húsavík it cleared up and we spotted two minke whales! It was amazing luck, that it cleared right at this moment one of the minke whales came up a few times right next to us so everybody was really happy. I still can't believe that we managed to see two species on such a foggy day.
On the next tour it was still foggy in the western part of the bay, but bright in the eastern part so we stayed there. And there were minke whales all around. It was hard to keep track of the numbers but I'd guess there were around seven of them. So we did a really nice minke whale tour.
Who knows if the fog clears up in the western part, there might be some humpback whales around there.
