Amazing weather and humpback whales
The weather today and yesterday has been amazing, over 20°C and sunny which doesn't happen a lot in Iceland. So I really enjoyed being out in the bay today. I went twice with capain Hrólfur on Knörrinn and on both tours we had great results. On the earlier trip we actually saw one minke whale but only a few times and then it dissappeared. I still don't understand how it could have disappeard because the surface was totally calm and easy to see far away in every direction. But that's how it is sometimes with these mysterious animals. A bit further from the minke whale was one humpback whale which we saw quite close often but it was a bit lazy and didn't lift the fluke often.
On the second tour we saw just one humpback whale but it was really nice. It wasn't the same as on the earlier trip but another humpback whale which I recognize from the last days. It was bubble-net feeding which is a known feeding technique for humpback whales. Then they swim in circles and blow bubbles so the fish is trapped inside the bubble net. It's alwasy fun to see this because then it's easier to guess where it will come up.
It would be nice if the weather would stay like that a little longer;)
