Two days of “bræla”
Today is the second day of "bræla" as it's called in Icelandic when the weather is too bad to go out. The northern wind is way too strong for us to go whale watching so all the boats stay put at the pier, waiting for the wind to calm down. According to the weather forecast we should be able to go tomorrow morning.
But like often when this happens we use the time to practice safety on board. Both yesterday and today we take our time going through safety and emergency plans, We also went a little bit out of the harbour to practise "man overboard". This is always done under control of the captains.
Also we discuss what to do in different situations that might come up out on sea and make each crew member aware of his or hers role in these situations.
Hopefully the weather forecast will come true so that we can go out tomorrow.
