A lot of minke whales
I did the two later trips today and it was so calm out there. No wind and totally calm surface. On the earlier trip it was though raining a bit but not too much. Still, the minke whales are the stars in the bay. We saw four of them in the first trip and five in the evening. And because it was so calm it was very easy to spot them and like most of the last days they were in the eastern part of the bay, close to Puffin Island. On the evening trip we acutally got a bit of a show. One of the minke whales was feeding in the surface and when they do that they often come up on the back and roll on the surface. This one was doing that a lot right next to the boat and also coming quite often up with the mouth open and catching the food in the surface. So that was really nice.
Also, like in the last days we see so many birds everywhere. Fulmars, arctic terns, puffins, arctic skua and one great skua. And all the birds are feeding, like the whales so there is a lot going on. Really nice.
