Rémy Tokouda
This summer Rémy Tokouda from New-Caledonia has been working for us here at North Sailing. Rémy arrived in beginning of June. He was hitchhiking around Iceland and wanted to earn a some money to continue his journey. But he liked it so much here that he decided to spend the rest of his time in Iceland here in Húsavík. I asked him to tell us why he came here and how it has been this summer. This is what he wrote.
Being from one of the Southern islands, I dreamed to discover one of the Northen islands. I was born and raised in New Caledonia and then moved to France, worked there for few monthes and earned a bit of money to afford the journey to Iceland. When I arrived in Húsavík this little harbour attracted me a lot, for that reason and as I had no more money to follow my "road" I applied for a job at North Sailing. 5 min. later I started working. They offered me a good job and a place to live. I think I´ve discovered Iceland by the greatest way, meeting a lot of very good people and worked with them. I´ve learnt a lot about whales, sailing boats, Iceland and the icelandic language. For me this has been a great experience with North Sailings international crew who were friendly and open minded. I´ve experienced unforgettable moments on the ground and much more on the sea.

Now I will continue following my road with a new knowledge and wonderful pictures in my mind. If you have been thinking about travelling to Iceland don´t think any more, go! Just go and try it for your self like I did.
