Amazing town festival now over
Mærudagar (e. Sweet Days), annual town festival, finished on Sunday. The festival was very successful, locals and guests enjoyed all sorts of happenings and gatherings in Húsavík. The weather was, and still is, amazing and made the festival even more memorable.

Two dances with local bands were held Friday and Saturday on Gamli Baukur. The ballroom Skipasmíðastöðin was packed both nights and the harbour as well. All doors were opened so people danced both on the dance floor and outside and those who didn´t feel like dancing sat outside and enjoyed grilled burgers and beverages from the outdoor bar, Raggabar.

Thursday evening, around 240 people went on four ships to the other side of Skjálfandi Bay to Naustavík. Three ships from North Sailing, Knörrinn, Náttfari and the Schooner Haukur, along with the Danish Schooner Activ moved the people to location and there was eating, drinking and singing in the beautiful surroundings and amazing weather.

On the way back home, Skjálfandi Bay entertained the travellers when several Humpback and Minke Whales came in all around the ships. Fantastic end of a fantastic day.
Great weekend and we are already looking forward to Mærudagar 2009.
