Tailor-made tours popular
During the past weeks North Sailing team has been busy with tailor-made trips for special groups. Those tours have been very different but all organized in cooperation with the customers.
The first one to mention is the midnight sailing to Grímsey Island last weekend. Around 30 passengers sailed with Náttfari, North Sailing’s boat, to celebrate the longest days of the year.
The group left around 8pm on the Saturday evening and the trip started with some whale watching on Skjálfandi Bay. Arrival in Grímsey was around midnight where guests got a chance to buy beautiful locally made souvenirs and enjoy a delicious soup. Passengers then had a chance to explore the island, walk across the arctic circle, and view the amazing birdlife.
On the way back luck was on our side and a Blue Whale – the largest animal on the planet – was seen, to great enjoyment of the passengers and crew.
It was a group of tired but happy passengers that arrived back in Húsavík around 7 am on Sunday morning.
Last Saturday Knörrinn, North Sailing’s smallest boat, went out with the former town council of Húsavík (local elections were held late May & new town council took over earlier this month). In Rauðavík Creek on the other side of Skjálfandi Bay, everyone went ashore and enjoyed a barbeque on the beach and the stunning untouched nature.
Last week a group of handsome male models sailed on Skjálfandi Bay onboard Haukur the Schooner. This trip was specially organized for a photo shoot for a new catalogue for Saks Fifth Avenue that will be published in September. The Haukur trip was a part of a 10 day trip around Iceland where the models where photographed in Icelandic nature.
Following pictures were taken on the trip to Grímsey Island, by captain Einar Magnússon and guide/engineer Þórunn Harðardóttir.
